Phase One : Residential Care

Lakehouse (Average Length of Stay: 60 Days)
At Ascend Recovery, clients begin their treatment at the Lakehouse in our Residential Care phase. Set in a tranquil environment on the shores of Utah Lake, this phase offers the highest level of structure and support, providing clients with a clinically rigorous program to address addiction and its underlying causes. This foundational phase is designed to help clients stabilize and begin their healing process, setting them up for long-term success in their recovery.
Comprehensive Clinical Care
During this first initial residential treatment phase, we get to the root of a wide range of addictions, including prescription drugs, alcohol, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic drugs, and more. Additionally, we treat co-occurring mental health issues that may be fueling the cycle of addiction.
During residential care, clients participate in relational-based individual and group therapy, facilitated by licenced therapists. This phase focuses on building a strong therapeutic alliance and connection, which is essential for long-term recovery. Each client also meets weekly with our medical team, led by Board-Certified Psychiatrist Dr. Wiet, to address both addiction and any co-occurring mental health issues or trauma.
In addition to traditional therapy, clients engage in experiential therapies such as high ropes courses, equine therapy, art therapy, and music therapy. These therapies are designed to deepen the therapeutic process by promoting self-reflection, trust, and emotional healing.
Structured Support and Education
The Residential Care phase is highly structured to provide the support necessary for a successful recovery. Clients will participate in:
Gender-specific group therapy held weekly to address the unique challenges men and women face in recovery.
12-Step introduction through programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), helping clients build a strong foundation in recovery support.
Bi-weekly in-person family programming, which allows family members to engage in the recovery process and provide valuable support.
Relational-based individual therapy and case management sessions up to three times per week to provide tailored, one-on-one support.
Clients will also begin to explore the importance of diet and exercise in the recovery process. A healthy body supports a healthy mind, and our program emphasizes physical wellness as part of the overall healing process.
Laying the Groundwork for Recovery
At Ascend Recovery, we focus on helping clients build a sustainable, healthy life beyond treatment. Residential Care is the starting point and where we lay the groundwork for long-term success. Compassion is at the heart of the healing process, guiding clients through this clinically-intensive phase of care.
We aim to work with our clients for around 60 days at Lake House. This benchmark can shift depending on a client’s progress and recommendations from the clinical team. The work done during this phase provides a strong foundation for the next phases in treatment: Extended Care and Transitional Living.
