Phase Three : Transitional Living

Montgomery (Average Length of Stay: 3-5 Months)

After successfully completing the first two phases of treatment, clients enter Phase Three: Transitional Living at Montgomery House. This phase is designed to help clients build upon the foundation they’ve already established while transitioning into more independent living. By this stage, clients have made significant strides in their recovery, and Montgomery House provides the environment to maintain their progress while managing day-to-day life in sobriety.

Maintaining and Strengthening Recovery

Montgomery House clients continue to grow into their new life, one that they are proud of. They continue to access the skills and stability needed to continue living independently, untethered by their addictive behavior patterns that overshadowed them before.

At Montgomery House, clients continue to grow in their recovery. This long-term rehab phase allows clients to interact more individually with their sober peer group and work on integrating the skills they’ve learned in Residential and extended Care into their daily lives. Clients begin to focus more on their long-term goals by participating in school or long-term career plans, envisioning a life for themselves after treatment. This helps them see their potential and the possibilities that lie ahead in their new sober life.

By the end of Phase Three , clients have fully built their renewed life. They have maintained sobriety for five months or longer, engaged with school and work, and become active members within their recovery community.

Continued Accountability and Support

The Montgomery phase offers continued support to ensure clients stay on track in their recovery:

  • 24-hour staffing to provide support and ensure safety.
  • Continued accountability through random testing and breathalyzing to maintain sobriety.
  • Therapist-led process groups that allow clients to work through ongoing recovery challenges.
  • Weekly individual therapy to provide continued personalized support.
  • Continued psychiatry appointments to monitor and support mental health.
  • Peer support engagement to help clients stay connected to a sober community.
  • Sober activities and outings to reinforce healthy, sober fun and build lasting memories.

Building a Sustainable Life in Recovery

Clients who complete Montgomery House have built a life they can be proud of—one where sobriety is the foundation, and school, work, and sober relationships are integral to their daily routine. This final phase of treatment is designed to help clients maintain and solidify their recovery as they transition into fully independent living. Whether a client came in for prescription drug abuse, alcoholism, or another substance use disorder, they will leave with the tools and confidence to successfully manage triggers and cravings in their day-to-day lives.
